Christmas Day...

Landon at his MawMaw & PawPaw Kennon's in Louisiana on Christmas day. He found a new best friend in this dog!

A little boys paradise...

Landon went riding on the four-wheeler with his daddy...in the mud! Then he eats an ice cream afterwards.

I love these people...

I am so thankful that this Christmas finds our former Pastor, Bro. Martinez doing much much better than the last. Last Christmas we had to visit him in a rehab center after his heart attack. This year, he was at our church Christmas banquet and is improving with each day. What a blessed Christmas this is!

It's about the birth of Christ, therefore I say...Merry Christmas!

Most of you know by now that I'm just the type of girl who says out loud what most people keep in their head. Today is no exception to the rule...and I really don't intend to offend anyone. That's not my goal, but I am just about fed up with all this Happy Holiday stuff!

I'm of the opinion that the reason people don't want to say MERRY CHRISTMAS is because of the word CHRIST being in it...see even after two thousand years He is still intimidating people!

The world says they just don't use Merry CHRISTmas because they don't want to offend all the other religions or anyone...REALLY? Is that your argument? Hmmmm....

Well there are lots of other holidays we haven't changed the name of. The month of February has just as many holidays as December, yet we don't go around saying 'Happy Holidays' do we? I'll start with HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY. We haven't changed the name of it and it probably offends lots of single people...we still look at them on Feb. 14 and what do we say? HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY! We don't stutter and say...oh, I'm sorry 'Do you believe in LOVE?' No!

It's CHRISTMAS and it's about the birth of Christ! Therefore, my dear friends, I wish you all a very Merry CHRISTmas!

A few of my favorite things...

The teddy bear ornament was my very first ornament after I got married...20 years ago. They came from 7-11 stores. When you filled up with 8 gallons or more of gas you received a free ornament! The other ornaments are from when we were expecting Landon, his first Christmas, and the baby shoes from his first Christmas. I love the memories associated with all my ornaments. These are just a few that bring back those special moments and memories...

Tough Love VS Spanking

Okay, so most people in today's world think it is improper to spank children, so I have tried other methods to control my son when he has one of 'those moments' in public.

One that I found effective is for me to just take my son, Landon, for a car ride and talk.
Some say it's the vibration from the car, others say it's the time away from any distractions such as videos, Video Games, Computer, etc. Either way, my son usually calms down and stops misbehaving after our car ride together. The eye to eye contact I keep with him on this ride really seems to help a lot too.

I've included a photo below of one of my sessions with my son, in case you would like to use the technique. I hope this helps someone out there...

Sincerely,
Carol

Santa is in town!

Some of the pictures I took of my son with Santa at the mall today. He was a bit scared at first but he warmed up to him pretty fast. When Santa asked him what he wanted for Christmas he said, "The Hot Wheels race car set and toys in my mommy's closet!" Gotta love him!

Santa

So, we're putting up our tree and decorating the house this week, and trying to get into the Christmas spirit. I have felt so bad the last few days that it's been a really slow process getting the tree decorated. Yesterday, I incorporated my little one's help. I ask him if he's excited about Christmas, and he says yes. Then I turn to the subject of taking a picture with Santa...should have left that one alone!

I ask him if he is going to take a picture with Santa and sit on his lap and tell him what he wants for Christmas. He tells me that he is kinda a little bit scared of Santa. I tried to explain to him that it's just an regular man dressed in a suit so that everyone will know it's okay for him to come down their chimney's and leave presents. I explain that everyone knows him by the red suit he wears and knows that he is a safe visitor. He grasped on to that fact well, and tells me that he will sit in his lap and take a picture this year.

Then, he has to go and ruin the whole 'Christmas' thing for me with his last comment. He turns around and says, "Mommy when I sit in Santa's lap, I'll just ask him if I can have all the toys you have in the closet! Those are the ones I want!" I tell you, I am crushed that he found my hiding place!!!
