Another Hit and Run...

I really wish someone could get the license number to the truck who keeps repeatedly 'hitting' my son when he is playing in our back yard! It's like the third time this man in a red truck has been racing and hit him.

I'm about to call the cops. I love his little imagination! He's the best...and loves band aids. Our band aid bill is getting as expensive as our gas bill. :)

Time doesn't heal all wounds...

January 20, 2006...a day that is forever etched in my memory.
There are just those moments in life when something happens that you never forget where you were or what you were doing when you receive that phone call. I was having a normal Friday afternoon when I received the call that my cousin had been shot thirteen times in the head and chest while dropping his children off at his parents home. He was standing beside his truck and talking to his mother when someone decided they would change our world forever.

Within minutes there were news reporters, crime scene investigators, police officers, family, friends, onlookers, and such gathering to try put all the broken pieces of the puzzle together and trying to make sense of what was happening. I remember that it was so disturbing to hear all the false and negative reports on the news channel about "a drug deal gone bad"...we knew this boy was clean. We just couldn't prove it at the time. When all was said and done his death was ruled as a mistaken identity murder. But make no mistake...I still miss him every day!

Carlos, I miss all the lighthearted chats and family get togethers where we would laugh and just go at each other! I miss all those 'names' you would call me. I miss all the corny weight watcher jokes you felt you had to tell me. I wish there was a way to bring you back to us. I wish there was a way to 'undo' the mistake someone made three years ago. I wish I you could see my little boy that you so loving called 'baby powder' (because he was so pale) :) I could wish all day...but my wishes won't come true. Time has not yet healed the hole you left behind in my life! Still missing you...

Days like these...I could just freeze them!

He was in the greatest mood today! Laying in our bed, passing out kisses and hugs and just being a joy. How is it that a 24 pound little boy has two adults (no, I'm not telling our weight!) so wrapped? Not that I am complaining...

Cat & Mouse

So, I am sitting downstairs in church Wednesday night oblivious to the fact that my son is upstairs in Children's Church entertaining all the kiddos. I am told of his funny outburst after service.

Seems they were taking prayer request and my son was asked if he had a prayer request. Of course he did...he wanted to pray for 'that mouse and the cat that was chasing him round and round.' (Seems he has been watching a little too much Tom & Jerry cartoons?) Of course I am told that all the kids bursted into laughter. Which only probably made Landon worse.

His dad asked him when we got home why he would give a funny prayer request like that in church? I tell you, the kid was serious! He told his dad that he wanted to pray for that mouse, cause that cat was always chasing him round and round and he didn't want him to get hurt. It was hard for my husband to keep a straight face...I didn't have to keep a straight face...I was in the kitchen laughing my head off! :)

Don't blame me for anything he says. It's his dad's fault!!!

The best medicine...

What's the best medicine when you have a bad day and get a bad doctor's report? Coming home to spend time with this little boy. He's the best part of my world! Have I mentioned how much I love him?

Financial Planning

Dan was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business.

When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sickly father died, he decided he needed a wife with which to share his fortune.

One evening at an investment meeting he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen. Her natural beauty took his breath away. "I may look like just an ordinary man," he said to her, "but in just a few years, my father will die, and I'll inherit $200 million."

Impressed, the woman obtained his business card and three days later, she became his stepmother.

Women are so much better at financial planning than men. Yes, we are!

I'm a BIG kid now!!!

Landon fixed his hair all by himself tonight! He made sure mommy took a picture to remember this milestone. I think he done a pretty decent job...I even let him wear it out that way. :) Hey, it looks better than most of the hairstyles I've seen lately!

Cool pictures...

When we were walking inside the house tonight, my husband told me to grab my camera and take a picture of the ring around the moon. Thought I'd share the pics...just because I thought they were neat too. Enjoy.

Like Father/Mother...Like son!

Landon's martian face...he couldn't be outdone by his parents! He wanted his own 'crazy' picture.

Just one question...

Are your friends this cool? I seriously doubt it!!!

It's officially Saturday!!!!

...And you know what that means??? CAFFEINE! Dr. Pepper! Yeah, I'm feeling much better.

I need caffeine...carbonated drinks...chocolate!!!

Okay, I've never really even liked root beer before...however, today it's making me drool! Our church is on a week long fast and the first two days you give up caffeine and carbonated drinks. The third day you add sweets to the list of things you give up, by Friday, you are on a complete fast. Surely my son knows this...so why is he slurping so hard on his glass of root beer??? I tell you, I'm about to grab it from him and drink up...a Toy Story sippy cup and straw don't bother me at all! I need a Dr. Pepper, but hey, I'll settle for anything at this point.

My other hobby

My other hobby...creating flower arrangements. Here's the two I made this afternoon.
